Hilsa harvesting is closed from 14 October to 4 November
The government has announced a 22-day hilsa breeding season from October 14 to November 4. During this period, catching, extracting, selling and marketing of hilsa will be stopped. During the breeding season, 10,057 metric tonnes of VGF rice has been allocated for fishermen under the government's humanitarian food aid program.
This information has been given in a press release of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock on Friday. It has also been said that under this assistance program, the allocation has been given to 5 lakh 26 thousand 342 fisher families in 152 upazilas of 36 districts at the rate of 20 kg before the start of the main breeding season for hilsa.
